Here is a picture of a student who touched a special tennis ball that was covered in a "magic germ powder". Notice how the powder glows under the black light. She must have rubbed her face after she touched the ball. If that powder was real germs, she would be covered in them!
Nurse Nancy from Mary Rutan Hospital came to our class to talk to the kids about proper hand washing. She told them that they should sing a song while they are washing, so that they make sure they wash good. Especially under the fingernails. Germs love to live there! She also talked about preventing the spread of germs. One suggestion was to cover a cough or a sneeze by doing it into your sleeve. This way, the germs will not be airborne. We had a great time learning from Nurse Nancy and really enjoyed the "magic germ powder" trick.
