February is Dental Health Month

Right before our Valentine Party on Friday, Marsha Earick, a dental hygienist, came to our class to speak with us about taking care of our teeth. She talked about cavities, avoiding sugar, brushing twice a day, using fluoride, and eating healthy foods. The kids were prepared for her. They knew so much about how to take care of their teeth! I was impressed. Did you know that there is as much sugar in 2 pop tarts that there is in a bottle of Mt. Dew? Wow! That's a lot! We looked at some dental x-rays, practiced brushing our teeth flossed and had a great time. She even gave everyone a brand new Sponge Bob toothbrush! Ironically, as she was passing out the toothbrushes, the parents arrived for our Sundae party with all kinds of sugar!! We promised her we would brush really good.

Thanks Mrs. Earick!

Not the best picture, but it's an x-ray.

Kyle was helping her brush her teeth.

Nathaniel brushed her fingers and then flossed between them. It was a pretty cool experiment.
